MRT Line 2 to start in June 2016

Below is the proposed MRT 2 Alignment Map and Station Location, with detailed environmental impact assessment being done.

PETALING JAYA: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) plans to start construction of the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line (MRT Line 2) by June next year.

The MRT Line 2 aims to connect Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya through Serdang via elevated and underground train lines.

The line will serve a corridor with a population of around 2 million people stretching from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya and will include Sri Damansara, Kepong, Batu, KLCC, Tun Razak Exchange, Bandar Malaysia, Sungai Besi, Kuchai Lama, Seri Kembangan and Putrajaya.

According to MRT Corp director of Strategic Communications and Public Relations Mahmood Razak, the Detailed Environment Impact Assessment (DEIA) public display will run for a month until May 19 and the feedback received before June 2015, at the 27 locations.

“With the length of about 52.2 km, this line would span from Sungai Buloh to Serdang to Putrajaya and expected to be completed within five years. Total length for the elevated alignment is 38.7 km and for the underground it is 13.5km,” he said during a media briefing on MRT Line 2, here.

During the session, Mahmood also revealed that there will be 36 stations (25 elevated and 11 underground) and the journey time estimated at 84 minutes from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya.

THE MRT SSP Line will be the second MRT line to be developed.

At commencement of full service in the fourth quarter of 2022, the SSP Line is expected to have a ridership of 529,000 passengers per day. This is expected to further improve the chronic traffic congestion currently faced by Kuala Lumpur.

Key Project Components

The SSP alignment is divided into four main segments:
 Northern Elevated Segment (14km) – from Damansara Damai to Jalan Ipoh
 Underground Segment (13.5km) – from Jalan Ipoh to the Bandar Malaysia South
 Southern Elevated Segment 1 (11.7km) – from the Bandar Malaysia South to UPM
 Southern Elevated Segment 2 (13km) – from UPM to Putrajaya

Proposed MRT Line 2 would also be integrated with the KTM Komuter, Ampang and Kelana Jaya LRT lines, MRT Line 1, Monorail, ERL as well as the proposed high speed rail link to Singapore at several interchanges.

    The mrt line 2 routr suppose to include selayang area instead of sg buloh which in selayang is it very high density population and upcoming township in selayang area. mrt copr/ government suppose iniate the first things about population and upcoming township that will be built in that era especial selayang. Im as resident in Selayang reaaly need that kind of mode of transportion in Selayang and it can cater Rawang people too.
