I was one of the returning Singapore PR 18 years ago (2004) after residing in Singapore for almost 9 years (1995 – 2004). Recently in my circle of friends that also returned from Singapore that chat about how to withdraw CPF and bring the lump sum back to Malaysia.
Although I wish I am able to withdraw my small amount of CPF, but I am not eligible for at the moment. One of my ex-colleague has done it in 2012 and he shared his experience as below:
- You can write to CPF by email requesting to withdraw your savings, CPF will provide the instructions.
- When write to CPF, state clearly you are over 50, residing in West Malaysia now and do not intend to return to Singapore for good. Hence fulfilling the requirements for CPF withdrawal
- Then you have to submit the application form together with the supporting documents such as IC, passport, entry/rentry permits (for PR), signed by public Notary (which cost RM25 per certified copy) then courier to CPF.
- For ex PR, they will request you to one in person to Singapore Immigration to sign a letter renouncing your PR ship, then issue you a letter to that effect, bring and hand over to CPF to complete the process.
- Then you receive the wired money to your account in about 3 days time. Pretty fast huh….
CPF information on the procedures & eligibility etc on the site here.
Hope this help you and do share if you have your experience.
